February 16th, 2011Getting Psyched for this Boating Season
As Ryan just told you we took our winter trip to the Bass ProShop. The guys were a bit confused when I showed up with my new camera. That’s right, I wanted to document the day with my new Cannon 7D. Yes, I have a new hobby. I also have a new lens with my new camera. Now, no more “long looking” shots of those whales or sinking ships, I’ll be getting some up close and personal shots. Also, the camera does video. I have to say, I have had cameras in the past, and I could take a fully automatic picture but if there was anything tricky I was toast. What’s different this time? While working with my startup company we began using a company to help us with our videos for work. (Check out our best stuff on YouTube – The Storage Network or our customer case study of a company called Snowball VFX that does video and animation.) Anyway the guys are called MediaBoss TV and THEY ROCK. Ian, their creative director is an outstanding videographer and camera dude. He has shown me all the ways to use the camera to get the most out of it and I love it. This season we will be getting some great shots and I am looking forward to it. In the mean time, here are a few shots of our trip to the Bass ProShop.
Also, as you can see, the counter has started, less than 2 months away from the boat launch, and only a few weeks from the Boat Show.
Enjoy.

I wish my boating season would be starting.
I had the misfortune of buying a boat from Russo Marine and they have held my boat hostage for 5 weeks…they have my money, they have my boat…I have nothing except empty promises.
Beware….

Well, to be honest, I’m looking forward to the shots with your new camera. Photography and sailing… I wonder if the two will blend well

I am in the Cincinnati area. The rain here has really delayed the boating season. I am doing some videos with my camera. It is amazing what you can do with a digital camera. In fact I am going to document an entire boat build in video with my Cannon. It is not as nice as the one that you are using but Cannon makes great stuff!

Sean,
Rain here is slowing down our season – total bummer but I agree with you – I can’t wait to start some video this summer for the blog.
Happy boating!
